Not a turn-friendly zone

What does San Francisco have against left turns? It seems like every street we'd cross while we were there prohibited left-hand turns. I understand the ones that are one-way streets, and I appreciate the sign helping me not get killed by an oncoming bus. But what about all of the other streets? What's their excuse? It's like this city just has something against ambi-turners. You'd think that a city that's so accepting of people swinging both ways would be more tolerant of those of us who like to turn both ways.

Just an experiment

This week Ronnie and I are doing the vegetarian challenge. Tyler says that being a vegetarian isn't something that you can just do for a week and then forget about, because it's a big decision that must be weighed out carefully. He says that it'd be like turning gay for just a week. Well, he may be right that this is the first time that vegetarianism has become a one-week challenge, but we're still committed to it. For a week.
So today I was driving around looking for a place to eat lunch. It was really hard decision, since (a) I'd never had to choose a place based on whether it was meatless, and (b) I was really hungry, and it was hard not to just get a burger.
I decided to go to the Pita Pit. I'd never been there before and it seemed like the kind of place that would be veggie-friendly. I had a falafel pita. My coworkers were all shocked and horrified, having heard that falafels were the grossest food ever, but I really liked it. It was hearty and satisfying and really good. It might become my favorite restaurant this week.

Last night I had my first experience being hit on by another guy.
We went to this dance club and I was kinda just leaning up against this counter (just taking a break, of course, since I'm such a dancing fool), and this guy comes up next to me and kind of gives me the look up and down and then says "Hey," to which I naturally respond, "Hey."
So then he stands right in front of me with one arm on the counter behind me (kind of in the Rocky position) and he puts his face like 4 inches from mine and puckers up.
Now I've never done very well under this type of pressure, even with a girl (I'm like a deer caught in the headlights), so I don't know what to do, and I just lean away from him and look at him.
The guy realizes my reluctance and leans back and says "Oh, did you think I was going to kiss you? I wasn't."
Relieved, I say, "Oh, good."
"Why good? Am I ugly?" the guy says, with mock shock.
"Ummm..." is all that I can say. The guy just takes it in stride, though, and laughs that if he were really going to try and kiss me he would take me to the bar and buy me a drink first. "That would be a lot more classy," I say, and we just laugh and give each other rocks like guys do, and he goes off to flirt with Turbo Dave (who's a severe homophobe, and had to leave immediately afterwards).
On an only-slightly straighter note, I saw the prettiest girl ever last night at the same club. Troy said he's seen her there before and that she's a lesbian, so nothing could have happened, even if I weren't too scared to talk to her.

I wore a skirt yesterday. Dave wore a pimp hat and tried to sell me on the corner. It didn't work. I think its the hairy legs. Or that my belly is bigger than my boobs. That probably turns dudes off.
